Lot description
Using a collage of carefully selected text and imagery, FAILE creates a charismatic portrait of the young Prince Charles. Centered around captions reading, “10 Ways to Make Him Notice You!” and “could YOU be happy with only a PART of his HEART?”, FAILE’s Prince Charles is identified as an object of desire and the source of heartbreak. Printed with pink hues and highlighted with grey acrylic paint, "HRH Prince Charles" is unique within a varied edition of 12 works.

Comprised of Patrick McNeil (b. 1975, Edmonton, CA) and Patrick Miller (b. 1976, Minneapolis, MN), the collaborative artistic duo known as FAILE has been a leader in contemporary street art since 1999, working in media ranging from collage to installation to sculpture. Through pioneering stencil techniques and the use of appropriated imagery, FAILE blends high and low culture in works that explore themes of consumerism, media, and religion. Their work was recently the subject of solo shows at Post No Bills Gallery, Los Angeles, CA (2011) and Lazarides Gallery, London, England (2010). They were also featured in recent exhibitions at Perry Rubenstein Gallery, New York, NY (2010); the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, CA (2010); Scream London, London, England (2011); and Toykio Gallery, Düsseldorf, Germany (2012).
