Edward Ruscha (B.1937, Omaha, Nebraska) is an American Pop artist known for his paintings, prints, drawings, photography and film. In 1962 Ruscha’s work was included in the groundbreaking and historically important exhibition entitled “New Painting of Common Objects” at the Pasadena Art Museum along with other legendary Pop artists, Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol, Robert Dowd, Phillip Hefferton, Joe Goode, Jim Dine, and Wayne Thiebaud. The 1970s were a very fertile period for the California artist Ed Ruscha. In 1972 he had his first major works on paper exhibition at the Minneapolis Institute of Art. He was chosen by the Venice Biennale as the focus of their graphics workshop and during this period he continued experimenting with different media.
