"Male Nude Back" (1999) is a stunning silver gelatin photograph that exudes the grace, power and quietly eroticism that defines the images of American Post-Modern photograher Dianora Niccolini (US, 1936), widely regarded as a pioneering photographer of the male nude. This image measures 11 x 14 inches (27.9 x 35.6 cm), is edition 2 of 25 and is in excellent condition.
In 1975, an exhibition of her work was threatened with closure by New York City police due to the subject matter of the male nude. Of that exhibit, Sunday New York Times art critic Gene Thornton wrote "Dianora Niccolini . . . comes about as close to idealization as is possible in photography." The artist has been the subject of countless solo and group exhibitions since the early 1970's and her photographs are in many of the top Museum Collections including: The National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington, DC.; The Museum of Fine Arts, (The Allan Chasanoff Photographic Collection), Houston, Texas;
The Florida Museum of Photographic Arts, Tampa, Florida;
