Lot description
In ‘Desert Dusk’, Dan Namingha presents an abstract representation of the desert through earth tones that harmoniously combine to embody the calming spirit of the desert at dusk.

Inspired by the traditions of his tribe, the Tewa-Hop, Dan Namingha’s (b.1950) drawings, paintings, and sculptures demonstrate his deep love and respect for the earth and his Native American ancestry. Namingha studied at the University of Kansas, the Institute of American Indian Arts, Santa Fe, NM, and the American Academy of Art, Chicago, IL. His work has been earned him numerous awards and honors including the 1995 Distinguished Artist of the Year award from the Rotary Foundation, Santa Fe, NM and the 1997 Visionary Award from the IAIA Foundation, Santa Fe, NM.
