Lot description
Damien Hirst’s exemplary use of color and proportion are perfectly captured in this late work “Souls I.” This print is from a very small edition of 15, created exclusively for Damien Hirst's "Souls" Exhibition with Paul Stolper.

Beginning April 4th until September 9th, 2012 The Tate Modern in London will open an exhibition of Damien Hirst's work. It will be the first substantial survey of his work in a British institution, bringing together key works from the past twenty years of the artist's career.

Light and dark; butterflies and memento mori; multi-colored ‘spots’ and marbleized spins—the dichotomy or yin-yang of Contemporary British artist DAMIEN HIRST’s œuvre is at once abstract, conceptual, romantic, baroque and minimal. Damien Hirst (born 1965), winner of the 1995 prestigious Tate Gallery Turner Prize, has been the most prominent and notorious member of the young British artists (YBAs). While still a student at Goldsmith's College in 1988, he curated the now renowned student exhibition, Freeze, featuring his friends' and his own work, and held in East London. With this exhibition, Hirst brought together a group of young artists who would come to define cutting-edge contemporary art in the 1990s. Hirst's work challenges the boundaries between high and low culture, art and science, and addresses the big questions of life, love, and death.

This print is framed and in excellent condition.
