Lot description
Christopher Makos (born 1948, Lowell, Massachusetts) is an American photographer and artist whose works have been in the permanent collections of over 100 museums and major private collections. Makos studied architecture in Paris and briefly apprenticed with Man Ray. He also was a close friend of Andy Warhol. In addition to being a frequent subject in his photographs, Makos also taught Warhol how to use his first camera and introduced Warhol to the work of both Jean-Michel Basquiat and Keith Haring.

Makos' photographs have been exhibited in prestigious venues including the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, the Tate Modern in London, the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, the IVAM in Valencia, Spain, and the Reina Sofia Museum in Madrid.
