Lot description
Chris Jordan (b. 1963) is best known for his large-format photographs which document the effects of mass consumption. Jordan works in series, depicting the magnitude of American consumerism, the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, and most recently, the carcasses of young Laysan albatrosses. The parents of these birds had fed them plastic and other waste, mistaking the floating debris for food. Jordan also served as an international eco-ambassador for Earth Day in 2008.

"As you walk up close, you can see that the collective is only made up of lots and lots of individuals. There is no bad consumer over there somewhere who needs to be educated. There is no public out there who needs to change. It's each one of us." - Chris Jordan
