Lot description
Charles Méryon (23 November 1821 – 13 February 1868), who suffered from color-blindness, worked almost entirely in etching as a medium. He is generally recognized as the most significant and influential etcher of 19th century France. Méryon suffered from debilitating mental illness, which resulted in his death in an asylum at the age of 47. His most famous works are from his series of views of Paris.
