Lot description

A vintage gelatin silver print of the celebrated boxer Joe Louis at Greenwood Lake, taken by Carl van Vechten in 1941. In excellent condition.

Carl Van Vechten has photographed many of the most prominent artists, musicians and writers of the twentieth century, including Frida Kahlo, Marc Chagall, Georgia O'Keefe, Billie Holiday, Truman Capote and Marlon Brando.
