Lot description
Silver print image of Guatemala landscape of ancient volcano, now lushly covered with planted fields. B&W highlights beautifully sweeping corn fields and crops. Upon seeing this image Ansel Adam's wife mistakenly complimented this landscape as his 'best ever.' Ansel replied, "Virginia, Brett took this one."

Brett Weston (1911- 1993) was an American photographer and the son of of Edward Weston. Brett had a close relationship with his father and left school in 1925 to travel to Mexico and become his father’s apprentice. Brett Weston’s work is influenced by important Mexican artists such as Frida Kahlo, Tina Modotti, and Diego Rivera. He became known for his tendency toward abstraction in his own photographic work.
