Lot description
Art Sinsabaugh, Untitled Landscape, 1980. Gelatin silver print, 11.75 x 19.75 inches (29.8 x 50.2 cm). Signed.

Art Sinsabaugh (1924-1983) made his mark in the history of photography in the early 1960s when he introduced his huge “banquet” camera, which produced extra-large format negatives measuring 12 x 20 inches. He used the camera to capture large, expansive views: long horizons in nature, as well as manmade additions to nature, like skyscrapers and highways. Sinsabaugh was also an educator, teaching at the Institute of Design/IIT in Chicago from 1949 to 1959, the university of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign from 1959 to 1983 and acting a visiting artist at the University of Oregon School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Williams College, University of New Hampshire, and many others.
