Andy Warhol, "Mao" (1972) is a screenprint in colors on Beckett High White paper, signed in ballpoint pen on the verso and stamp-numbered 130 of 250, dimensions are 36 x 36 inches (91.40 x 91.40); II.91 F/S. This is one of the most desireable colors, sizes and years of Warhold's Mao prints, is in mint condition and is professionally framed to slightly larger dimensions.

Andy Warhol explored representations of the famous Communist leader Mao Zedong of China in similar fashion to his famous rendition of Marilyn Monroe five years earlier. Warhol was interested in comparing in the replication of the image as a commentary on the mass media invention of the Communist leader's image throughout China, as well as his "Little Red Book." Warhol's famous portraits of Mao have become extremely collectible, particularly to collectors in the Far East.
