Lot description
The classic "Flower" image by Andy Warhol that continues to signify the essence of Pop. The use of silkscreen (considered to be an industrial technique at the time, never used for fine art printing) as well as taking this previously sentimental subject of a flower still life and turning it into the height of chic, was Warhol's genius, replicated by his disciples, Jeff Koons and Damien Hirst.

Andy Warhol (August 6, 1928 – February 22, 1987) was a leading figure in the visual art movement known as pop art. After a successful career as a commercial illustrator, Warhol became a renowned and sometimes controversial artist. His works explore the relationship between artistic expression, celebrity culture and advertisement. He worked in a range of media, including painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, film, and music.
