Lot description
A renaissance man of sorts, Allen Tucker, was at once a painter, architect, poet, and teacher. He studied architecture at Columbia University's School of Mines before taking on painting full time. Tucker was one of the founders of the Association of American Painters and Sculptors, which organized the 1913 Armory Show in New York City. He exhibited widely and his work is included in the collections of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Whitney Museum of Art, the Brooklyn Museum of Art, the Rhode Island School of Design, the Art Students League of New York and the Phillips Memorial Gallery, Washington, D.C.
