Alexander Calder is synonymous with twentieth century abstract art. He invented the mobile form by suspending objects in space in the 1930's. Although Calder created not only mobiles, but paintings, prints, jewelry and other forms of art, he continued to focus on balance and movement throughout his career. Calder’s prints reflect the whimsy with which he
created art, the bright primary colors of his sculptures taking two-dimensional form.
