Lot description
Alex Katz, "Corinne", original woodcut, hand signed. This is one of the artist's largest woodcuts, almost five feet long. This piece is printed on Japanese rice paper. It is hand signed and numbered in pencil by the artist.

Alex Katz is a leading figure painter of the new realism movement in contemporary art. He is best known for his realistic portraits of friends and family, notable for their relaxed attitudes and uncomplicated bearing.


Alex Katz (born 1927) is one of the most important and influential American artists of the past fifty years. Recognized as the central figure in Cool Painting, his work is characterized by a symbiotic relationship between abstraction sensuousness and rationality.
With an exhibition at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston entitled "Alex Katz Prints" that opened on April 28, 2012, Katz shows no signs of slowing down. After being the subject of over 200 solo exhibitions internationally, Katz has truly established a permanent place in the contemporary canon.
