Lot description
Pigment print, 12 x 18 inches (30.5 x 45.7cm) on 16 x 20-inch Canson Rives BFK to museum specs. Edition 4 of 40. Signed, titled and numbered. The image was made at Chris Dundee's 5th Street Gym on Miami Beach Jan 15, 1980. It shows a perspiring Muhammad Ali preparing for his October, 1980 match against Larry Holmes.

Alan Oxley was a newspaper reporter who became a photographer in the 1950s. Over the past half-century, his images have been published in every major magazine in the world. He was a contract photographer for Life Magazine in the 1960s. His work was syndicated world-wide for decades by the British photo agency Camera Press and the French picture agency Sipa Press. Oxley images are currently licensed for editorial usage by Getty Images [Compix]
