Seller's Description:
Bacon's prints were all derived from his paintings, and created with extensive help from the technicians of the studios. However they remain a powerful and effective expression of the ideas and of the power of his art.
This lithograph is one of his most sought-after small scale prints.
Self-taught Francis Bacon (1909-1992) is an artist for our time. More than that of any other artist who emerged at the end of World War II, his work tells us about the strengths and weaknesses of the human condition. His work often included images of either friends or lovers, movie stills, reproductions of historic paintings and photographs. Often, Bacon painted his subjects in the midst of a scream, as if the soul was escaping the body via the mouth.
