Seller's Description:
This is the first print in the unbound book entitled "The New Fall of America." It is Lichtenstein's response to both Allen Ginsburg's poem and Jasper Johns' characterization of the American Flag and what it stands for. The work was created in 1992 in response to a poem from 1973, is even more appropriate on this July 4th holiday.

This impression comes from the collection of Bob Adelman, a photographer and social activist known for his historic coverage of the Civil Rights Movement. Adelman was a good friend of Lichtenstein since the 1960s, and used one of Lichtenstein's flag images on the cover of his book entitled "Visions of Liberty. Lichtenstein gave Adelman 1/45, which is considered to be the most important number from the edition.
