Robert Indiana, one of America's most important 20th century artists, is a seminal icon of Pop Art. Robert Indiana was born in New Castle, Indiana. He graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis. He moved to New York City in 1954 and joined the Pop Art movement, using distinctive imagery drawing on commercial art.
