This work is an exceptionally good example of Sol Lewitt’s gouache line drawings. The subtle grey and yellow lines are soothing and meditative. This extreme horizontal format is the most desirable and sought-after of the drawings.
Sol LeWitt (September 9, 1928 - April 8, 2007) merged Conceptual Art with Minimalism by merging the idea with the art produced. “The idea becomes a machine that makes the art,” Lewitt wrote.
A major LeWitt retrospective was organized by the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art in 2000. The exhibition traveled to the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, and Whitney Museum of American Art, New York.
Framed size is 30 x 41 inches. The work is framed with archival materials.
