This 2005 MacArthur Fellowship recipient is known for her large-scale diagrammatic works with overlapping layers of organic and straight-edged lines, evocative here of a city-state aerial or weather map. With this untitled (Module) work, JULIE MEHRETU uses soft blue and grey architectural shapes as a foil and corral for many layers of gestures and marks punctuated with spirals and clusters of dots. She has presented this in a more than 4 x 6 foot light box, so that the layers are lit from beneath.
