In 1977, Chamberlain began experimenting with photography using a Panoramic, Wide-lux camera lens. His photographs in many ways mimic the pulled, manipulated metal of his larger sculptures. "Untitled, Flavin" is a beautiful example of Chamberlain's explorations into photography, but also a magnificent homage to his friend, Dan Flavin. Elegant in composition and tone, Chamberlain's photograph reveals an equally sharp eye for the minimal as well as the expressionist.
