"My photographs tell stories of loss, human struggle, and personal exploration within landscapes scarred by technology and over-use… [I] strive to metaphorically and poetically link laborious actions, idiosyncratic rituals and strangely crude machines into tales about our modern experience."
-Robert ParkeHarrison
Robert and Shana ParkeHarrison work as a pair, creating works that portray a dark and polluted wasteland, destroyed by overcomsumption and characterized by the presence of one lone figure amongst emptiness. After building scenic components and carefully staging each composition together, Robert ParkeHarrison becomes part of many of the works, posing as a bewildered "everyman" wearing a suit and walking amidst a surreal and mostly uninhabited world. The ParkeHarrison's work has been featured at the National Museum of American Art at the Smithsonian Institution and at the George Eastman House.
