DESCRIPTION:  SECOND HALF 16TH CENTURY,
AFTER CARTOONS BY MICHEL COXIEN

From the Story of Noah and depicting Noah and his family entering the Ark, in the foreground they gather fruit as the animals enter behind them, with snow-capped mountains in the distance,the borders woven with enterelac enclosing blossoming and fruiting urns and birds,the upper central border panel inscribed CVM.FAMILIA.ET.ANIMANTIBVS INCREDITVR.ARCAM.NOE, the lower right selvedge woven with the Brussels townmark.

Thence by descent at Knole until the late 19th century J. P. Morgan, Sr.
