DESCRIPTION:  SECOND HALF 16TH CENTURY,
AFTER CARTOONS BY MICHEL COXIEN

From the Story of Noah depicting Noah and his family leaving the Ark with the animals in the distance, the border woven with entrelac enclosing bloosoming and fruiting urns and birds, the upper central border inscribed EGRED TVR.NOE.ARCA.CVM FAMILIA.ET.ANIMANTIBVS, the lower right selvedge woven with the Brussles townmark.

Probably Charles Sackville, 6th Earl of Dorst, The Chapel-Room, Knole, Kent
Thence by descent at Knole until the late 19th century J.P.Morgan, Sr.
Sold from the Morgan Collection to French & Co., New York in 1916.
