Historical Description:
In this exquisite work, Monet depicts a breathtaking seaside scene conveyed in a rich dark green hue. Vast cliffs tower above a turbulent sea in this remarkable image. This piece perfectly exemplifies Monet's impressionistic style, utilizing soft, swirling lines to relay a sense of natural beauty and calm. Expertly rendered, Monet focuses the viewer's attention upon the subtle tonal contrasts. The intensely shadowed cliff contrast with the white patches in the water, which hint at sunlight skimming the water's surface. The repetition of the waves relaxes the eye of the viewer, creating a scene full of majesty and natural beauty.
