DESCRIPTION:
|
The first Native American Abstract Expressionist, Morrison was a Chippewa from Grand Portage Reservation in Minnesota. Working In New York in the 1950's Morrison became close to Franz Kline, Willem De Kooning and Jackson Pollock and their influences are in his work, although he always retained his own Indian-based fascination with the horizon line and the junction of earth, sky and space.
