Focillon 28; Hind 5; Robison 44 second state (of three); Wilton-Ely 30
This plate was added to the original sixteen plates of the Carceri after the plates had been reworked for the second edition. The present state, with the Roman numeral V in the top left corner, was part of the second issue of the second edition, printed from the early 1760s onwards.
A fine and rich impression, without any wear in the areas of darkest shading. The usual horizontal centerfold; apart from a small pale spot near the platemark at the lower center in very good condition, with wide margins all round.
