DESCRIPTION:
|
This rare coloured nude is a wonderful example of Bonnard’s colour theory mixed with the modern compositions of his Intimiste style. Colour and composition were the two keys parts of Bonnard’s oeuvre and sum up the aim of the Nabis in the late 19th Century. Here the pink of the body sits within blocks of mauve, red and blue – her body stands out strongly though the luminescent tone of the flesh is moderate and light.
