DESCRIPTION:
|
Route à la Cadiere is a spontaneous, expertly composed example of the artist’s striking palette. The trees’s trunks are all made up of varying pigments as opposed to one solid line of colour – this was a trick often used by the great Fauves in their depictions of Collioure’s surrounding landscape in 1904 and prevents the composition becoming static. His use of yellow portrays Cadiere’s oppressive heat as the purple road winds round the left of the picture into the distance.
