This massive vessel defies explanation as to how it was created. Arntz had a great deal of skill and a tremendous eye that allowed him to not only create such a large piece of pottery, but to create patterns, incisions, brushwork, and glazes that work so well together. It is easier to categorize this as sculpture rather than pottery.
