DESCRIPTION:  The etchings: 57 of the etchings are bound in double pages, some with text and some with other etchings. The 15 additional etchings are printed on individual seperated sheets of paper in a separate folio. These etchings are from an earlier state than the 57 etchings included with the text. They are printed on loose pages seperate from the portfolio so they can be individually framed. Some of the etchings are signed/dated/titled in the plate.

The edition: there were 26 specially printed portfolios numbered XX-XLV out of the total edition of 200. Our portfolio is numbered XXIV and is one of the 26 special portfolios. The portfolio and drawings were made in 1949/50 in a limited edition of 200 impressions by Editions de la Cigogne, rue de Longwy Casablanca. Aside the 3 drawings and 72 etchings, it included 207 pages of text and poems by Blaise Pascal. The three drawings were painted by Albert Gleizes in preparation for this special edition portfolio and were used to make the plates for some of the etchings.

It was published by Compagnie des Bibliophiles du Livre d'Art et de l'Amerique Latine, Paris, in 1961. In addition, ten of the pages are double, including three extra etchings.

The portfolio, drawings and etchings are all in very good condition. Two of the drawings have a few small punctures. The hardcover is broken.
