DESCRIPTION:
|
Jose Bedia, who has lived in the U.S. since 1993, infuses his work with symbols such as cavorting, silhouetted imps, lumbering mythological animals, aircraft carriers, and planes. He tends to use Goya like captions which reference the Lakota Sioux, and Yoruban cosmologies, along with elegies of his wife, and warnings about the oil economy. This outstanding work was done in the late 90's, when Bedia was executing some of his best works on Amate paper. This enormous painting exhibits much of the graphic iconography and symbology that he has become known for. Provenance - Fredric Snitzer Gallery, Miami, Florida.
