DESCRIPTION:  The most important single animal sculpture of the 19th Century, the Cheval Turc represents Barye's work at its very finest. Influenced by the power and romance of the paintings of Gericault and Delacroix, this superb bronze study has an exquisite deep brown rubbed to mid/red brown patination and wonderful hand chased surface detail representing the work achieved in Barye's own atelier (workshop).
