DESCRIPTION:
|
This sculptural vase was designed by Louis Majorelle, a man famed for his organic furniture, and produced by the manufacturer Keller et Guèrin. Both the designer and the firm were key players in L'Ecole Nancy, a gathering of artists and manufacturers centered in the French city of Nancy. This earthenware piece, a symmetrical composition of stylized flowers, leaves and stems, is clad in a slivery glaze. On the whole, the vase resembles the metal mounted legs that Majorelle used for wardrobes and other large furniture pieces from circa 1900 to circa 1905.
