The housekeeper is a distant ambiguous figure, wielding a certain power within the house, and exercising control over everything. She is the owner and the lady of the house, she opens and closes cupboards and doors and possesses an awareness of all that happens in the home. Gala was the housekeeper, the key which unlocked Dali’s conscious and unconscious fears and desires.
