DESCRIPTION:
|
The German Forest became Crola’s favorite subject. Having first attended drawing classes at Meissen since 1820, Crola lived in Dresden between 1825-1828 and became a pupil of both, Caspar David Friedrich and Johan Christian Dahl. It was Friedrich’s Romantic subject matter and Dahl’s plein air technique which influenced the young Crola most and had a lasting impression on his on style of painting. He regularly exhibited at the Saxon Academy and his work can be found in the museums of Erfurt, Hamburg, Hanover, Leipzig and Dresden.
