William Chadwick Biography
1879   Born in Yorkshire, England
1882   Immigrated to the United States when his family left their home in England to settle in Holyoke, MA
1901   During the summer of 1901, Chadwick traveled to Rome, visiting museums and art galleries and studying the work of the Old Masters
1902   Made his first visit to the Old Lyme Art Colony located on the coast of Connecticut
1912   Traveled to Europe, spending much of his time in Rome
1915   Returning to America, Chadwick and his family settled in Old Lyme, where he quickly became an important member of the colony and continued to carry on the Impressionist tradition
1924 - 1926   Taught at the Telfair Academy in Savannah, GA
1927   Telfair Academy honored Chadwick by hosting the first, and only, solo exhibition of his career
1962   Died in Old Lyme, CT
1994   The artist's studio was reconstructed on the grounds of the Florence Griswold Museum in Old Lyme, CT
