William Marshall Brown Biography
William Marshall Brown was a Scottish figurative painter who also painted landscapes and still life. He was born in Edinburgh and it was where he studied at the College of Art and at the Royal Scottish Academy's Life School and working at the same time as a wood engraver and book illustrator.
He won the Chambers Bursary and Stewart Prize and later was awarded a bronze medal for anatomical studies in South Kensington.
His work is held in many museums including the City of Edinburgh Collection, the Harrogate Art Gallery and The Kirkcaldy Art Gallery.
