There is something passionate bout Rym Karoui. A passion for space and time is clearly expressed in her paintings and sculptures. Her art, characterized by the choice of bright colours, the originality of materials used and the techniques adopted, is the expression of her individuality alive with dreams, fantasy, exoticism, frustration and splendour. Rym tells the story of her life, her aspirations and her passions through her paintings and sculptures. Both selected artistic paths are of the same imprint, or feel, the two different techniques are appreciably similar in the artistic approach. When she started making sculptures, Rym wanted to explore another feel opening to imagination and fantasy. But can one really attach Rym to a movement, a trend or a school? Rym, Karoui is as unique and original as her paintings or sculptures. Her artistic expression is a spicy mix of colours with a few words and graphics expressing a spontaneous and emotional feeling. Moreover, Rym seems to belong to this artists’ movement freed from any academic rules and technical constraints. She does not follow any instructions or what is dictated by the system. Rym is strongly assertive about being spontaneous and free in her creative expression inspired by her personal life made of moments of contemplation, happiness, pleasure and isolation. Either pictorial or sculptural, her work is sequential-like, from conceptual to real passing by phantasmagorical imagery.
