Ray Yoshida Biography
Ray Yoshida’s expansive inventory of cut and pasted motifs are bursting with visual data, “he jams his compositions to the brim while still providing order and pattern in their dispassionate heirarchy of rows,” states James Yood in “Reading Ray Yoshida” from his retrospective catalog, 1968-1998, from The Contemporary Museum, Honolulu, Hawaii. These works have the quality of “control and release, of excess and refinement, and their sense of frenzy given palpable structure.”

Ray Yoshida’s work is included in the collections of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, The Art Institute of Chicago, The National Museum of American Art, Smithsonian Institution and the Everson Museum, among others.
