Mark Grotjahn (American b.1968) was born in Pasadena, CA, and received his MFA from the University of California, Berkeley, and his BFA from the University of Colorado, Boulder. Best know for his Abstract and geometric paintings, Grotjahn has exhibited all over the world, with solo shows at the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles (2005), the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York (2006), and Kunstmuseum Thun in Switzerland (2007), among other institutions. His works can also be seen in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, MN, and the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Grotjahn currently lives and works in Los Angeles.
