Ms. Lockhart paints in a variety of styles from the semi-impressionistic to the surreal. Her subjects range from the landscapes of her native Eastern Shore to portraits of animals and people. Working primarily in oils she creates character. Her subjects call out to the viewer to complete the stories, begun in the work. Active in the Plein Air movement, Ms. Lockhart’s work has the feeling of a moment captured in time. An eternal student, Ms. Lockhart was formally trained at the Pennsylvania Academy of Art and the Corcoran School of Art with scientific studies in Biology,. She continues to study and work with painters around the country, continually experimenting and moving in new directions, while, at the same time, retaining the soul of her subjects which is the essence of her work.

"Inherent in the discipline of form is the freedom to paint whatever you want, and to then consider expression and emotion, to become so specific you can capture a moment in the life of that being."
