Studied art at Universidad de los Andes, Bogota, Columbia. Among the teachers there, he was most strongly influenced by the Spanish-born artist Juan Antonio Roda (1921-2003)

Completed his formal artistic training in Paris at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière. In Paris, Caballero felt liberated by the widespread acceptance of homosexuality and the pervasive mood of sexual freedom

Became a professor of drawing at the Universidad de Bogota Jorge Tadeo Lozano, Bogata, Columbia

Received the Painting prize, Biennale de Peinture de Cagnes-sur-Mer, France
