1894   Born on September 22, 1894 in Atchison, KS
1912 - 1914   Studied art under W. A. Griffith, University of Kansas, Lawrence, KS
1914 - 1916   Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Philadelphia, PA
1917 - 1919   Served in the Eighty-Ninth Division of the American Expeditionary Force
1921   After a short stint in the United States as art editor of Capper Publications, he returned to France
1921 - 1922   Spent the winter in Provence with fellow artist Kenneth Adams
1922   Returned to the United States and worked as a commercial artist in Kansas City, MO
1924   Married Clyde Bonebreak, who encouraged him to pursue his art career
1926   Joined the Taos artists' colony, Taos, NM
1932 - 1934   Taught at the Broadmoor Art Academy (later the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center) under the direction of Boardman Robinson
1938   Professor of Art, University of Texas
1942   Lockwood rejoined the United States Army as a captain and served for four years
1945   Became a full colonel in the United States Army
1947   Returned to Austin for a short time before taking a leave of absence from the University of Texas to paint in Taos
1948 - 1961   Taught at the University of California at Berkeley, Berkeley, CA
1961   Retired from teaching to return to Taos, NM
1963   Passed away in Taos, NM
