Johann Mongels Culverhouse (Dutch, 1891)

Culverhouse was a native of Rotterdam, Holland who began working in America in 1849 and continued in this country until 1891, chiefly in New York. He must have had a large private patronage because he exhibited only sporadically at the American Art-Union, the national Academy of Design, the Boston Athenaeum, and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.
