1892   Born May 3, in Budapest, Hungary
1906   Family emigrated to the United States, arriving in New York City
1909 - 1914   Studied at Cooper Union and at the National Academy of Design
1916   Published his first anti-war art, opposing World War I, in the New York Hungarian Socialist Daily, Elöre
1925   Worked as a staff artist for the New York Times
1927   Became leader of the Anti-Horthy League (the first American anti-Fascist organization)
1939   Helped organize the Artists for Defense group and would later become the chairman for Artists for Victory
1954   Established the Art of Today Gallery in New York, NY with Rockwell Kent and Charles White to provide an exhibition venue for blacklisted artists
1985   Died December 9, in Freehold Township, New Jersey
