Hilo Chen

(American, born 1942)

Hilo Chen is a contemproary Taiwanese-born American painter best known for his Photorealistic paintings depicting female bodies. He often portrays women in a voyeuristic manner, showing glimpses of their bodies peeking out of swimwear or revealing clothing. Born on October 15, 1942 in Yee-Lum, Taiwan, Chen went on to study architectural engineering at Chung Yien College before moving to New York City in 1968. He has exhibited with Bernaducci Meisel gallery in New York, and his works can be found in the collections of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York, the Taipei Fine Arts Museum, and the San Jose Museum of Art, among others. Chen lives and works in New York, NY.
