Gertrude Kasebier Biography
1852   Born in Des Moines, Iowa.
1860   Traveled with her family to join her father in Golden, Colorado at the start of the Pike's Peak Gold Rush.
1864   Moved to Brooklyn, New York after the sudden death of her father.
1874   Married businessman, Eduard Kasebier.
1884   Moved to a farm in New Durham, New Jersey with her husband to raise their children.
1889   Moved back to Brooklyn, New York to study at Pratt Institute.
1894   Studied chemistry in Germany.
1895   Returned to New York and became an assistant to Brooklyn portrait photographer Samuel H. Lifshey.
1899   Alfred Stieglitz published five of her photographs in Camera Notes.
1900   Became one of the first two women elected to Britian's The Linked Ring.
1902   Alfred Stieglitz included her as a founding member of his group, Photo-Secession.
1903   Alfred Stieglitz published six of her photographs in Camera Work.
1906   Joined the Professional Photographers of New York.
1907   Received a critical attack by Joseph T. Keiley, published in Camera Work.
1912   Became the first member to resign from the Photo-Secession
1916   Helped Clarence H. White found Pictorial Photographers of America.
1929   Closed her portrait studio.
1934   Died on October 12.
